Output is Extremely Bright White. (1) 2.5 Watt LED Disk These ⅝" Dia. COB LED Assemblies have 3 LED Chips wired in series. Typical operating current per Disk is approximately 0.20 Amps at approximately 12 VDC. Note: As with most COB (Chip on Board) LEDs, these should be powered with a current limited source to prevent thermal runaway. The Disks have an aluminum substrate and the LEDs are insulated from the base. This allows wiring multiple Disks in parallel or series without having to insulate them from a common heatsink. These COB Disks are cut from a larger 3x7 panel. If Disks are ordered in multiples of 3, they will be cut from the same panel as a connected unit. Application / Test Notes We did not have the datasheet on this item so we bench tested them to evaluate their performance under several different conditions. Data is for one Disk. With a heatsink the recommended Maximum safe current is 0.25 A at 12.8 V. Without a heatsink we recommend an operating current of 50 mA at 10 V. The recommended Maximum safe current is approximately 75 mA at 10 Volts to prevent overheating. Even at this reduced current, the output at this current provides good bright white illumination. Ambient temperature, heatsink size and airflow will affect the actual safe power, but experimentally, with a good heatsink, the light output appeared to level off before 0.3 A. The difference between 0.2 and 0.3 Amps is not significant. We used a 3" x 5" x 0.75" aluminum block as a heatsink but that is overkill and depending on design and ambient air flow, you should get by with far less. We suggest keeping the Disk temperature below 150º F (65º C).
